Meeniyan Tavern Night named South Gippsland Community Event of the Year
At the South Gippsland Australia Day awards ceremony, held by the South Gippsland Shire at the Meeniyan Hall 15th January, the 40th Anniversary Meeniyan Tavern Night was named the winner of the Community Event of the Year.
Up against very worthy competition, the event was recognised for its longevity and for providing affordable quality entertainment and a platform for performing artists, especially young people.
Congratulations to Tarnya Wilson and Jane Coker - who are the current organisers of these unique concerts.
Congratulations to Leongatha’s Ian Rasmussen who was recognised as Citizen of the Year and Charli Ogden as Young Citizen of the Year.
With great entertainment provided by Benzo the One Man Band, the event was well attended by citizens from all over the Shire of South Gippsland, leader of the National party in Victoria Danny O’Brien and local councillors. Congratulations Meeniyan!
